ECUADOR. 8 Escudos, 1856-QUITO GJ. Quito Mint. PCGS Genuine--Repaired, EF Details.
Fr-8; KM-34.2; Seppa/Anderson-ECG102; Onza-1776; Carr-97. One-year type. A VERY SCARCE issue with a slightly different portrait than the preceding Bolivar types. The strike is decent, normally exhibiting flat and weak designs features, with even wear displaying an attractive pale gold coloration with richer hues in the protected areas of the legend. Close inspection reveals evidence of tasteful smoothing on Bolivar's cheek indicative of being repaired, as indicated on the PCGS insert. Despite its shortcomings a presentable example of the type with a sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
