AKARNANIA. Leukas. AR Stater (8.59 gms), ca. 320-280 B.C. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 5/5. Die Shift.
HGC-4, 825; Pegasi-Unlisted; BCD Akarnania-Unlisted. Obverse: Pegasos flying left; Reverse: Helmeted head of Athena left; to right, round shield with race torch on boss. This interesting example seems to be relatively RARE, as it is unlisted in Pegasi and was not present in BCD's great collection. This piece is well struck and centered on the attractive and lightly colored flan. Minor wear is seen on the highpoints, with pockets of luster and a hard-to-see die shift.
