BOEOTIA. Thebes. AR Stater (12.25 gms), Charo-, magistrate, ca. 379-368 B.C. NGC Ch AU, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 5/5.
HGC-4, 1331; BCD Boiotia-Unlisted. Obverse: Boeotian shield; Reverse: Amphora; wreath of ivy leaves above, ΨA-RO across field. This lovely Theban Stater is beautifully struck and has an abundance of luster remaining. The reverse is nicely centered, though the obverse design is a bit askew on the flan. Quite RARE with the ivy wreath above, rather than the more commonly encountered laurel wreath.
