HGC-4, 1580; Seltman-Group Gi. Obverse: Helmeted head of Athena right; Reverse: Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig to left; all within incuse square. This handsome example of an archaic period piece is a very nice representative example with a bold strike being well placed in the center of the flan. The full crest of Athena--featuring a distinctive zig-zag pattern--is on flan, and the surfaces have a dark onyx hue to them.
