RUSSIA--SOUTH RUSSIA. State Treasury Note. 10 Rubles, 1918. P-89. Anti-Bolshevik Overprint. Extremely Fine.
An interesting piece of currency from Civil War era Russia. This note was captured by Anton Denikin's troops, and overprinted by the OSVAG (ОСВАГ), the propaganda service of the Volunteer Army. The overprint is on the front of the note and reads "Деньги для дураков", or "Money for Fools." This is the first time we have encountered a note with such overprint, and is presumably scarce given that the majority of Anti-Bolshevik material would have been destroyed by the Cheka or disposed of after the Civil War by anyone in possession of such contraband. PMG did not certify this note due to the overprint, and therefore it is being SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. Pinholes are noticed along with an oblong cancellation.
Estimate: $100 - $200
