SYRIA. Seleukid Kingdom. Antiochos II Theos, 261-246 B.C. AR Drachm (4.28 gms), Magnesia pros Maiandros Mint. NGC EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 4/5.
HGC 9, 248; SC-541.1a. Obverse: Diademed head right; Reverse: Apollo, holding bow, seated left on omphalos. A very interesting and unusual type, this variety has Apollo holding a bow as opposed to an arrow which is somewhat standard on the rest of Antiochos II's Drachms. Nicely struck and centered, this beautiful and RARE example retains a silvery luster.
