PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Kleopatra VII Thea, 51-30 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (13.29 gms), Alexandreia Mint, dated RY 12 (41/0 B.C.). EXTREMELY FINE. Brushed.
Svor-1826; SNG Cop-406. Obverse: Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis around neck; Reverse: Eagle standing left on thunderbolt; to left, LIB (date) above headdress of Isis; ΠA to right. This issue from the lifetime of Kleopatra--a seductress of both Julius Caesar and Mark Antony--bears a nice, silvery luster and is fairly well struck. Some light brushing and marks are noted, but this remains a great example from a pivotal period in the ancient Mediterranean.
Estimate: $100 - $200
