MAURITIUS. Royal Society of Arts and Sciences Gilt Silver Medal, 1846. UNCIRCULATED.
cf. Rey Collection-1334. Obverse: Radiate crown between caduceus and torch, date below; Reverse: Engraved inscription within wreath: "F. J. Bour Brothers / Evaporator for Sugar / 1853". This highly attractive and beautifully toned medal was presented for achievement in the arts or sciences, with this example apparently given to local inventors. Very well loved, this piece displays no real evidence of handling and retains the original box with which it was presented. Certainly a VERY RARE piece.
