MEXICO. Cob 8 Reales, ND (1607-16)-Mo F. Mexico City Mint. Philip III. NGC AU-53.
KM-44.3; Cal-type 162. Weight: 26.98 gms. A pleasing, boldly struck Cob with an unusually large amount of detail on the peripheral legends. At nearly 27 grams, it has clearly been spared efforts to clip any metal from the edges. The mintmark is sharp and a vague hint of the assayer letter visible. The fields are toned a dark gray, helping to provide contrast with the raised devices. Overall an exceptionally nice example of the type.
Estimate: $400 - $600
