MEXICO. Complete Denomination Set of Pillar Reales (7 Pieces), 1736-99. Mexico City Mint. Average Grade: Extremely Fine.
The lot offers the opportunity to acquire a complete denomination set of Mexican Pillar Reales in a custom plastic Capital holder. Included are 1/2, 1, 2, 4, 8 Reales from the pillar series of various dates, along with a later 1/4 Real and a 3 bit example from a portrait Real. The Spanish 8 Reales was the first true global monetary unit being widely accepted for value in not only the Spanish Empire, but also by other major European countries and possessions who by this time had expanded into vast territorial gains. All the coins in this holder have seen circulation, but have not been worn so much that they are not attractive representatives of their types. This holder will look great on the desk of an investment banker, professor of economics, or just lover of history.

Estimate: $500 - $700
