A thoroughly resplendent example of this highly collectible type, shimmering with cornflower-blue and lavender throughout, and sporting a perfectly centered piercing, likely a result of the Great Recoinage of 1696 that allowed these earlier hammered pieces to continue circulating in the absence of greater quantities of milled coinage.
