East Prussia. Elizabeth 6 Groschen 1761 AU55 NGC, Koenigsberg mint, KM-C45. A popular and enigmatic issue of East Prussia, most appropriately listed under Russia as this area was a brief possession under Elizabeth's reign. While misattributed on the NGC label as a 3 Groschen, we note a prominently placed "VI" to the reverse, a clear indication of its 6 Groschen status. Regardless, the piece at hand displays noticeable mint luster, with a pleasing originality accompanying the pewter surfaces and only the most trivial evidence of handling to preclude it from finer designations.
