Constantine I. Follis; Constantine I; 307-337 AD, Trier, 309 AD, Follis, 5.79g. RIC-832 (R). Obv: IMP CONSTANTINVS P F AVG Bust laureate, cuirassed r., seen from front. Rx: MARTI PATRI PROPVGNATORI Mars wearing helmet, cloak flying behind him, otherwise nude, advancing r., holding spear and shield; PTR in exergue, T - F across field. Possibly the first specimen confirming the existence of this type for Constantine at Trier, which is described by Sutherland in RIC on the basis of Maurice vol. I, pp. 387-8, who reports such a coin in the Paris collection, inventory no. 9133 or 9134. However Sutherland states in a footnote that there is no such coin in Paris, nor is there any example either in CoinArchives Pro or noted by Lech Stepniewski among the hundreds of corrections and additions to RIC VI-VII on his website Not in RIC..
