Ex NAC, 2 April 1995, Friedrich Collection of Roman Imperial Sestertii, lot 1764. From the same reverse die as BM-750, pl. 26. Commemorates Alexander's departure on his Persian campaign early in 231 AD. Rare. This coin is exceptionally beautiful, not only historic but showing a rather remarkable image of Victory on foot leading the emperor forward. This coin is probably from an 18th or 19th century collection in that it is absolutely flawless, but shows slight traces of manual cleaning in the fields. MS
