Lycia. Stater; Lycia; c. 520-510 BC, Stater, 8.83g. BM-1. Obv: Forepart of boar r., one foreleg extended below head. Rx: Crude incuse square. First issue, possibly none better.While the boar coins of Lycia are part of a very large issue, this stater is extremely unusual in the way it is drawn and the small sharp details. In fact it is British Museum-1, the extremely rare first issue of a type that later became plentiful and rather common. In over fifty years we have never seen a coin that equals this one in quality or rarity. MS
