British Royal Seals, Exceptionally Rendered

A rather well-preserved copy of the British Royal seals volume of the outstanding 19th-century contribution to medallic and glyptic art. The massive, extensively illustrated Trésor de numismatique et de glyptique has never been approached in concept or scope and, after a century and a half, some sections have yet to be superseded and remain essential sources of information. The plates utilized a new process, perfected in France by Achille Collas. They were engraved with a pantographic ruling machine and, in addition to being of great visual appeal, the illustrations were the most accurate ever achieved. Babelon 143. Clain-Stefanelli 14551*.
