First Edition of Grant's Imperium to Auctoritas
Grant, Michael. FROM IMPERIUM TO AUCTORITAS: A HISTORICAL STUDY OF AES COINAGE IN THE ROMAN EMPIRE, 49 B.C.–A.D. 14. Cambridge, 1946. First edition. 4to, original blue-green cloth, gilt; jacket. xvii, (1), 510 pages; errata slip; 12 fine plates. Jacket somewhat worn; very good or better. The scarce original edition, in large quarto format and with superior coin plates. The reprints are so ubiquitous that one forgets how rarely the original is seen, particularly with the jacket. Even the Kreindler library didn't have one. Kroh 62: "covers a lot of ground that is all but virtually ignored by other references. Its analysis of the Late-Republican and Early-Empire provincial coinage is very detailed."
