,
There are two distinct portraits on Edward VI crowned bust half-sovereigns, Potter, BNJ 1962 pp.135-6. The first is a 'baby-faced' portrait similar to the uncrowned half-sovereigns, with a prominent rounded forehead and plain breast armour. The second is an older, more angular portrait with a smaller ear set lower on the head and decorated breast armour. Both varieties were struck at the Southwark mint, though the second is not represented at mintmark level in the Schneider collection.
Estimate: £5000 - £6000
