(x) THE JEAN-MARIE VANMEERBEECK COLLECTION OF NUMISMATIC PORTRAITS | Victoria (1837-1901), Specimen 'Gothic' Crown, MDCCCXLVII [1847] UNDECIMO, by W Wyon, 'Gothic' bust left, rev. crowned shields cruciform, edge lettered downwards, 28.37g, 6h (Bull 2571; ESC 288; L&S 57; Spink 3883), a breathtaking example of Wyon's 'Magnum Opus', with wisps of cabinet contact in otherwise brilliant fields, an astonishing 'snake' of iridescent blue trailing across obverse fields culminating in flaming reddish-purple in Victoria's Gothic Crown, splendidly choice FDC.
