FACIAM | EOS IN | GENTEM | VNAM, long cross fleury over crowned square-topped Royal shield, 9.00g [138.8grns], 12h, m.m. spur rowel (Lingford 1060 = Schneider II, 82 same dies; North 2111; Spink 2637), phenomenal reddish-blue cabinet toning on a pleasingly neat flan, a striking example of the seldom encountered 'first bust' issue, good very fine or better but for wisps of striking softness to peripheries and a minor metal flaw in French shield, very rare.
