Charles I (1625-1649), Briot's First Milled Issue, Halfcrown, 1637-1642, Tower, armoured King on horseback left, holding sword upright, ground below, rev. crowned oval-garnished shield, dividing crowned cypher 14.78g, 6h, m.m. B and flower / B (Brooker 715 same dies; North 2299; Spink 2853), rich dark cabinet toned with flashes of gilding (?) in recesses, otherwise a striking example, very fine, scarce.
