KINGS of THRACE, Macedonian. Lysimachos. 305-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (30.5mm, 17.03 g, 12h). Kyzikos mint(?). Struck circa 297/6-282/1 BC or shortly after. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield, transverse spear in background; AP monogram in inner left, ΠA monogram in exergue. The history of Kyzikos during the Diadoch period is relatively unknown. Although no coins of Lysimachos' lifetime have been attributed there, it is possible that this issue may have been a lifetime issue, or that it was an issue authorized by Philetairos of Pergamon, under whose influence Kyzikos passed after the death of Lysimachos.
