KINGS of PAEONIA. Audoleon. Circa 315-286 BC. AR Tetradrachm (25.5mm, 15.94 g, 10h). In the name and types of Alexander III. Astibos or Damastion mint. Struck circa 300-286 BC. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; A-in-wreath in left field. Peykov –; Waggoner, Reflexions, unlisted variety, but using obverse die 11; cf. Price 1974 for prototype issue (incorrectly given to Magnesia; the style is certainly Macedonian); HGC 3, 157. Toned, some roughness and porosity. Near VF. Unique unpublished Paeonian issue copying a very rare Macedonian issue.
