Documents and Medals of James Anderson, WWI Veteran and Member of the 21st Regiment. Among this lot are medals, documents, and other belongings of James Anderson.
The medals and badges included are his 1914-1918 British War Medal, 1914-1919 allied victory medal, and his war service badge (With a discharge certificate that has a matching serial number to his service badge).

Included among the documents are his birth certificate (1951 Copy), a letter of authorization for his medals, a posthumous acknowledgement from Buckingham Palace for his service, a military voucher for railway tickets, an entitlement for treatment of his gunshot wounds (1931), a pension commissioners medical report entitling him to a gratuity of $50, and a birth certificate for Kate Henderson (unknown relationship to James).

And lastly of his miscellaneous personal belongings are a Bauer & Black first aid kit, a leather wallet including 3 photos (2 with unknown persons and 1 with likely his brother and an unknown woman), a poem written by James about his brother Ferguson who died at service in France, a letter from Ferguson to James, a letter from Brigadier General Robert Clark (1874-1932) thanking James for his "unselfish devotion to duty", A letter from March 4th 1902 regarding James' apprenticeship in the trade of plastering, an envelope from a Canadian election, a hymn, and a letter dated February 7th 1919 from Fumal Belgium thanking James for a gift which gave the recipient "remembrance of war and... Canadians in the village".

James Anderson was born on July 31st 1884 in the county of Newcastle Upon Tyne to his Father John, and Mother Elizabeth. It is apparent from the documents that he early on later resided in London, Ontario Canada but the exact date is unknown.
