Footnote: Private George Spoors, 1st Battalion, Coldstream Guards was in combat at Gheluvelt, when he was was Killed in Action on October 29, 1914. That day, the 1st Battalion suffered such causalities that it had no officers left and only eighty men. Four days later, even after reinforcement, it had once more been reduced to no officers and only one hundred and twenty men. Private Spoors is buried in Tyne Cot Cemetery, West-Vlaanderen (West Flanders), Belgium, Grave Reference: LXV. H. 17., the resting place of 3,605 casualties. Ex. Dr. Albert Goodwin Collection
