Mughal Empire, Shah Jahan (1628-58), gold Mohur, 10.93g, Burhanpur (mint mostly off flan), date off flan, ry 31, legends within square beaded borders both sides (KM 260.6 for type), a crisply struck attractive coin, about uncirculated, unknown with this regnal year.
This is a very interesting and potentially rare piece. Previously Mohurs of Shah Jahan have only been recorded with this regnal year from mints such as Kashmir and Multan, however there are Rupees of this date issued at Burhanpur. There is a possibility that this is a copy, but if it is, the quality is exceptional.
Estimate: £1,000 - £1,200
