Mughal Empire, Shah Jahan (1628-58), gold square Mohur Token or contemporary copy, 10.85g, Surat, date off flan, ry. uncertain, legends in square frame with knotted corners both sides (in style of KM 264.2), edge with a punch on each side, about fine, an interesting piece .
Genuine coins of this type are so rare the cataloguer has not found one to compare this coin with. However, the poor formation of the legends and rough execution is not indicative of it being struck at an official Mughal mint.
Estimate: £500 - £600
