Sikh Empire, Ranjit Singh (VS 1856-96; 1799-1839), Nanakshahi Rupee, Amritsar, VS 1884 / 67 (Herrli 01.07.04; Gurprit Singh -, KM 20.1), four different shroff marks on edge, darkly toned, very fine, unusual, and possibly unique.
This is an intriguing coin. At first it appears that '67' is a mistake for '97', a date found on many fixed year 1884 Rupees. However, this is a Nanakshahi type, and those dated '97' would normally be combined with the Gobindshahi legend. Those with the Nanakshahi legend were struck prior to 1827, so this coin was either struck before this time, or struck using old dies.
Estimate: £180 - £240
