(x) Kushano-Sasanian / Kidarite Huns, temp Kidara (c.350-65), in the name of Varahran Kushanshah, scyphate gold Dinar, 7.59g, king standing left wearing ribboned flat-topped crown with lotus bud flanked by two ribbons above, making an offering at a fire altar, wearing a sword, trident above, holding trident standard to right, Kidarite tamgha in right field, rev. Siva standing with bull Nandi behind, holding trident and diadem (cf. Cribb & Jongeward 2427; Göbl 724), reverse weakly struck as normal for this type, about uncirculated, scarce.
The general finish of this coin, and the fact that there are no beads under the arm of the king, leads the cataloguer to believe this may be a later copy.
Estimate: £300 - £400
