Sultans of Delhi, Muhammad bin Tughluq (1325 - 51), gold Tanka Token or jewellery piece, 11.09g, 'Hadrat Delhi,' AH727, fi zaman type (in the style of G & G. D.334), Arabic number '59' engraved at bottom of reverse, an interesting item, extremely fine.
It is not certain if this piece was made with the intention to deceive, or was created for jewellery, or perhaps just as a payment in gold corresponding to a Mohur / Tanka of 96 rati weight. The treasury number engraved on the obverse might suggest the latter.
Genuine coins of this type would weigh 112 rati or around 12.8g.
Estimate: £400 - £500
