Lieutenant-General (later Field Marshal) Lord Combermere (1773-1865), his Victories, in the Peninsular, specimen gilt-copper medal, 1821, by B. R. Faulkner, bust of Combermere l., rev. Victory advancing to left holding a scroll listing the British victories of the Peninsular War, 41mm. (BHM.1157; Eimer 1155), the gilding matt, but the lettering, date and edge buffed, extremely fine and very rare thus
Sir Stapleton Cotton, first Baron and first Viscount Combermere. Brown (BHM) attributes the reverse, with its BF signature, to W. Barnett (repeating Grueber and Forrer). It seems more likely that the initial stand for B. Faulkner.
