Charles I (1625-49), Tower mint under the King, 1625-42, Double-Crown, 4.50g, m.m. rose over plume / rose, third crowned, draped and cuirassed bust left, with broad flat crown and ruff, value X behind, rev.crowned oval shield dividing C-R (North 2165; SCBI 33 (Brooker) 158 obverse and 159 reverse same dies; Schneider 191 same dies; S.2701), a slightly untidy strike with some doubling in the legends, creased and scuffed, fine.
