Ancients
Allectus, Romano-British Empire (AD 293-296/7). AE antoninianus (20mm, 7h). NGC VF. London. IMP C ALLECTVS P F AVG, radiate, cuirassed bust of Allectus right, seen from front / VIRTVS AVG, galley under oar left on waves, with crew of rowers, mast, and hortator at stern under arched cabin; Q L in exergue. RIC V.II 55.
From the Werner Collection
Although RIC denotes the Q issue coins as quinarii and have been traditionally cataloged as such, the current scholarship leans toward these being antoniniani and the Q may represent the quinquennials planned for AD 298.
