Regarding these dies, Henri Pottier said that "Compared to the style of gold coins of Maurice or of the solidi from the revolt of Heraclius, the style of the portrait and of their inscription letters are clearly cruder." He therefore includes the example from his collection with a series of tremisses previously attributed by Hahn to the Revolt of the Heraclii, AD 608-610 which he argues should be re-attributed to the mint operating in Syria during Persian rule from 610-630.
