PISIDIA, Termessus Major. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Time of Valerian to Gallienus, AD 253-268. Æ (29mm, 10.46 g, 1h). Laureate head of Zeus right / AYTONOMΩN, Tyche standing left, holding rudder and cornucopia, being crowned by Nike standing on her right. Cf. SNG BN 2208 (for type, 2210 for rev. legend); cf. SNG von Aulock 5355 (for type). Dark green patina with red-brown highlights. Near EF. Very rare variety.

Termessos was an ally of Rome who, in 71 BC, was granted fully independent status by the Roman Senate. The reverse legend on this coin advertises its status as a free city.
