C. Servilius Vatia. 127 BC. AR Denarius (17mm, 3.90 g, 7h). Rome mint. Helmeted head of Roma right, star on neckpiece of helmet; lituus to left, mark of value below chin / Horseman (M. Servilius Pulex Geminus) galloping left, holding shield inscribed M (Marcus), piercing with spear another horseman, who fights back armed with shield and sword. Crawford 264/1; Sydenham 483; Servilia 6; RBW 1069. Cleaning lines beneath deep gray and iridescent toning, traces of horn silver, minor flan flaw. Good VF.
