THESSALY, Ainianes. Circa 80s-40s BC. AR Trihemidrachm or Stater (25mm, 7.60 g, 1h). Hypata mint; Munnion and Alexon, magistrates. Helmeted head of Athena right; MVNNIΩN to left / The hero Phemios, wearing scabbard with sword, standing left, head right, shooting sling to right; AΛEΞΩN and spearhead to right. Callataÿ, Argent 63–4; BCD Thessaly –; HGC 4, 41. Old cabinet tone, indications of undertype, area of weak strike on reverse. Good VF. Extremely rare with these magistrates, only two examples recorded by Callataÿ, both in museum collections (BM and BN).
