Louis XV gold Louis d'Or Mirliton 1724-H AU Details (Saltwater Damage) PCGS, La Rochelle mint, KM470.8, Gad-339 (R), Dup-1638. Large palms variety. From the 1725 Le Chameau shipwreck. Softly struck, though ideally centered, and a specimen which has long been off the market. Whereas the long period spent underwater has left many coins of this type either matte and tone-free, or with unsightly blotches of rust color, this piece is much more evenly toned in red-gold, heightening its overall eye appeal.
