Louis XV gold Louis d'Or Mirliton 1724-O AU Details (Harshly Cleaned) NGC, Riom mint, KM470.14, Gad-339 (R), Dup-1638. Large palms variety. Seemingly expressing fully uncirculated details atop what was originally likely a rather lustrous flan. Just the second example of this mint-date we have handled, we would note that we are uncertain if the 24 over 23 overdate recorded by Les monnaies des quatre Rois Louis is simply a bit of die rust around the final digit of the date known from one obverse die (which this coin shares with the Ford specimen). A characteristically lesser-seen mint for French coinage, and only the 7th representative to come to public auction in recent years.
