Louis XV gold Louis d'Or 1724-Y AU Details (Cleaned) NGC, Bourges mint, KM470.23, Gad-339 (R2), Dup-1638. Large palms variety. Far finer than the assigned grade would suggest, with overall wear generally absent from the devices. Only the second example of this mint we have seen for the issue (after the previous lot), we note that, if anything, the wispy hairlines that can be detected in the fields may represent mild conservation work, which would hardly be irregular for this often shipwreck-recovered coins.
