BRUTTIUM. Medma. Circa 350-300 BC. AE (Bronze, 22 mm, 8.33 g, 10 h). Head of the nymph Medma facing slightly to right, wearing wreath of barley ears, pendant earring and pearl necklace. Rev. [MEΣMA]IΩN Laureate head of Apollo to right. Basel 214 (this coin). Gorini, Medma, 3. HN Italy 2426. Rare. An unusually attractive example of this difficult issue, with a lovely light green patina. Some breaks in patina near the edge, otherwise, very fine.

Medma was a small settlement on the northwestern coast of Bruttium, some 40 km from Rhegion. Its coinage consists of a minor issue of Corinthian staters and a series of bronze coins, all struck in the second half of the 4th century BC.
