CANADA. Lower Canada. Copper Blacksmith 1/2 Penny Token, ND (ca. 1835). PCGS FINE-15.

BL-40A1. Struck by Daniel and Benjamin True of Troy, New York. These pieces were made for export to Canada and were produced using dilapidated store card token dies. The dies and planchets grew progressively worse through usage, with the latest issues showing serious defacement to the dies and lighter weight planchets. The present example is an earlier piece that provides more details than many of the type. An interesting piece of North American numismatic history that comes with an old collector tag detailing the history of the piece.

Estimate: $60 - $100
