CEYLON. 19 Cents Token, 1843 (struck 1881). Victoria. PCGS AU-58.
Prid-96. Wekande Mills Coffee Plantation Token. Obverse: "1843" within four plain circles; Reverse: Two women at work, filling a sack of coffee. This lovely token displays a bold strike and an attractive hot chocolate color. Struck in 1881, despite the 1843 date, this example was denominated at 19 Cents and likely would have been used to assuage a small change shortage.
Estimate: $60 - $100
