FRANCE. Battle of Lutzen Silver Medal, 1813. Napoleon I. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, Unc Details.
Bramsen-1229. Diameter: 40 mm. By Depaulis and Brenet. Obverse: Bust of Napoleon in military uniform right, laurel wreath above, legend around; Reverse: BATAILLE DE LUTZEN / II. MAI MDCCCXIII. A Cossack and a Prussian cavalryman flee from oncoming French infantry formations, which can be seen in the background. With devices starkly elevated from the fields in ultra high relief, this well-executed Napoleonic medal is a potent historical object that highlights the initial glory and triumph of Napoleon's Russian invasion. Intensely brilliant fields are slightly darkened by charcoal patina. Some unobtrusive hairlines can be spotted after a thorough rotation.

Estimate: $300 - $450
