Merse-2151. Obverse: Luther and Melanchthon standing facing, between them alter and Bible; Reverse: The handing of the Augsburg confession to Emperor Charles V. This enchanting medal in Silver depicts important scenery in the history of Protestantism on surfaces that are well preserved and lustrous, but that do display some evidence of handling.
The Treaty of Augsburg formalized the beliefs of Lutherans in attempt to unify religious practice in the Holy Roman Empire, as they faced down threats from the Ottoman Invasion.
