MEXICO. Mint Error -- Struck on 5 Pesos Planchet -- 10 Pesos, 2021-Mo. Mexico City Mint. PCGS MS-66.
cf. KM-616. Switched around from the standard copper-nickel core and aluminum-bronze exterior, this distinctive mistake transcends most other off-planchet errors with its dramatic color reversal. Denticles and some design elements creep off the abnormally small 5 Pesos flan, adding to the coin's gripping presentation, while the outermost sliver of the eagle's wing can be seen in stainless steel. Mottling across the upper half of the obverse is pre-strike, possibly due to a mint machine's inability to accept the abnormal planchet size, and it does not affect the grade.
Estimate: $150 - $300
