This entrancing mint set was produced to commemorate the Summer Olympics being held in Moscow in 1980 and features a total of 5 coins commemorating the sports of discus, wrestling, track, charioteering, and a central piece celebrating the Olympic games generally. Each coin is housed in its original capsule with in the original red box of issue complete with paperwork (COA # 08206). A wonderful set for those who love the Olympics or platinum.

The 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow were notable for being boycotted by the United States and several other Western powers to protest the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in 1979.
