SWEDEN. Prometheus/Nobel Bronze Medal, 1926. Stockholm Mint. PCGS SPECIMEN-61.

Lagerqvist-12. Diameter: 45 mm. By Erik Lindberg. Obverse: Bust of Nobel left; Reverse: Prometheus holding curtain aloft and lighting an altar with a torch of flame stolen from the gods. This charming medal harkens by to classical mythology with the symbolism of Prometheus and the tie to Nobel as the prize he bequeathed has become the new fire, with the progress of knowledge acting as an advance not dissimilar to the discovery of fire. The brassy surfaces of this medal are free from much evidence of handling with this piece far nicer than the grade would make one believe. Perfect for all collectors of Nobel medals.

Estimate: $150 - $300
