MACEDON. Kingdom of Macedon. Philip III, 323-317 B.C. AR Drachm (4.14 gms), Kolophon Mint, ca. 322-319 B.C. NGC EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5. Scuff.

Pr-1751. In the name and types of Alexander III (the Great). Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; spearhead in outer right field; below throne, barley grain below strut. This exceptionally charming example demonstrates a strong strike, and despite a scuff on Zeus on the reverse, remains a charming example of an early posthumous issue.

Estimate: $100 - $200
