CONSTANTINE IX, 1042-1055. AV Histamenon Nomisma (4.37 gms), Constantinople Mint. NGC Ch EF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Ex-Mount, Straightened.

S-1829. Obverse: Christ Pantokrator seated facing on throne; Reverse: Crowned facing bust of Constantine, holding labarum and globus cruciger. This dandy example displays a strong strike on the flan, with a particularly handsome portrait of the Emperor on the reverse. The noted by NGC, though clearly visible, is not too distracting as to diminish much from the charm of this piece.
